7.5 lakh Punjab students begin class 12th & 10th PSEB board exams 2016

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has confirmed that over 7.5 lakh students shall be appearing for class 10th and 12th exams in 2016. While the 12th class began from 20 February, class 10th exams will begin from4 March, 2016. It is expected that over 3,44,507 lakh students will appear for the class 12th examinations whereas more than 4,24,024 students will appear for class 10th board exams.

The information was confirmed by Education minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and that section 144 would be imposed near examination centres and enough police personnels will be deployed for maintaining law and order around exam centres. The state has declared 200 centres as sensitive out of the total 2671 exam centres. Of these, 1411 centres are only for class 12 students.
Cheema added that in order to crack down on unfair means during examination, the department has instructed PSEB to make flying squads to conduct surprise checks. Additionally, sensitive examination centres would be video-graphed. A control room has also been set up to deal with emergency situations which would be working 24X7. A number of permanent observers will be also present at the centres. Any one will be able to lodge a complaint on either email or over phone. The strict security measures come into the fore with the recent cases of unfair means being used in Gurdaspur; three each in Hoshiarpur and Barnala; two each in Jalandhar; and one in Ferozepur (UMC).
There was an examination cancellation at the centre Sant Baba Jagat Singh Public School, Harsha Chinna -- in Amritsar. On the other hand, candidates were made to remove shoes before entering the hall at the Ladowal model school in Jalandhar.
