Leading business schools and government organizations recognize PTE Academic

Harvard, Stanford, Yale, INSEAD business schools along with ISB, Hyderabad to accept PTE Academic scores along with GMAT marks

New Delhi: PTE Academic, an English language proficiency test developed by Pearson, the global media, education and publishing group, has been granted acceptance by Harvard Business School. Other leading business schools such as Stanford, Yale, INSEAD and ISB, Hyderabad, and organizations such as the UK Border Agency also accept PTE Academic scores.

PTE Academic, launched late last year by Pearson is already recognized, or in the process of being recognized, by more than 1500 programs worldwide. A test of truly international English, PTE Academic is endorsed by the Graduate Management Admission Council GMAC®, the owners of the Graduate Management Admission test GMAT®.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. David Wilson, President & CEO of Graduate Management Admission Council, owner of the GMAT said "Pearson Test of English Academic is an excellent assessment of international English for students who aspire to study at institutions where English is the primary language of instruction.  My GMAC colleagues and I congratulate Pearson on the successful rollout and wide acceptance of PTE Academic at premier institutions worldwide and are pleased to offer our unconditional endorsement of the test"

"We are delighted that prestigious organizations such as the UKBA and business schools such as Harvard, Stanford, Yale and ISB shall now accept PTE Academic scores. The fast- growing acceptance of this test, which is endorsed by GMAC® , is testimony to the fact that it setting a new standard in academic English language testing" said Mr. John K Philip, Regional Director (SAARC Countries), Pearson Language Tests.

PTE Academic offers many advantages– for example, the test negates the biases of an American or British language/accent; this is typically part of other tests, leading to difficulties for Indian students in particular. PTE Academic also leads on parameters such as registration lead time, test duration and declaration of results. The test is delivered on a 'choose and book' basis rather than on fixed dates, which can speed up the testing process for test takers. Test takers can schedule their appointment just 24 hours before their test and results are currently being delivered in just 2 business days.

The test also follows an excellent security protocol - test takers authorize Pearson to forward their test scores online to institutions of their choice after they receive their scores. While this service is free, institutions recognizing PTE Academic have designated administrators who can log on to the portal to retrieve the score. Embassies and High Commissions too can be granted access to PTE Academic score reporting website for independent verification of scores online.

About PTE Academic: PTE Academic is an international computer-based academic English language test developed by Pearson. The test measures the reading, writing, listening and speaking ability of test takers who are non-native speakers of English and who want to study at institutions where English is the principal language of instruction.

PTE Academic was launched in India in October 2009, as part of a global launch. The test has been rapidly rolled-out, and is available now in over 150 test centers worldwide. There is immediate availability in 15 centers across India where capacity is flexible and driven by demand.

About Pearson in India: Pearson has a longstanding and growing presence in India. Pearson Education is the country's leading publisher in the higher education and schools segment; Penguin Books India publishes the country's best-known authors including Shobhaa De, Nandan Nilekani and Amitav Ghosh; and The Financial Times has a leading position among global news organisations in its coverage of Indian economic and business affairs. More recently Pearson's professional testing business Pearson Vue established its Asia-Pacific headquarters in India, recognizing the potential of the market, and MergerMarket, a provider of high-value market intelligence for financial institutions, set up a bureau in 2005.
