DTU achieves great heights in 2011

New Delhi: The year 2011 for Delhi Technological University (DTU) has been a year of great achievements and growth. The university achieved a new height of its glory with its ranking in Top 10 Best Engineering Institutions in India.

DTU was ranked at No. 7 by India Today and at No. 8 by Outlook among the Top 10 Best Engineering institutions in India. The University also achieved the distinction of being ranked at No. 3 in the country in Campus Placements in the Best Engineering Institutions including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

The highest salary in campus placements for Undergraduates has gone up to Rs. 40 lakhs p.a. while the domestic salary rose to Rs. 16 lakhs p.a. Ajir Behari and Abhishek Gupta had the honour of receiving the highest paid job offers of Rs. 40 lakhs plus from EPIC.

The companies which visited DTU includes Microsoft, Facebook, Google, EPIC, Yahoo, Oracle, IBM, Alstom, Samsung, McKenzie, Deloitte, Freescale, Mentor Graphics, Texas Instruments, L&T, Maruti, Tata Motors, BHEL, NTPC, EIL, GAIL, Indian Oil, CSC, C-dot. Besides, India Railways for the first time visited DTU for the campus placement.

By the close of the year, in this academic year (2011-12), 421 job offers have been received from 90 companies that have visited the campus so far. The highest salary is likely to go up to 52 lakhs as the final results of Facebook is awaited. A large number of companies are further registered for campus placement in January and February 2012.

A unique feature of DTU is the vibrant research and innovation culture from Under Graduate onwards. DTU Solar Car this year (October 2011) participated in the World Solar Challenge held in Australia from Darwin to Adelaide while its Robotic Submarine and Super Mileage Vehicle also participated in the International Design Competition in US. DTU team has also developed the Next Generation Unmanned Arial Vehicle for urban applications in collaboration with Lockheed Martin of US.

Another major achievement of the University has been to strengthen its interface with the industry and with the world class universities. DTU entered into MoU with Samsung Electronics (India) alongside with MoUs with LaTrobe University, Australia, MoU with National University of Singapore, MoU with National Physical Laboratory, MoU with Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun. A new M.Tech program in Software Technology for 20 Samsung Professionals has also started by DTU.

The varsity is celebrating 70 years of its excellence and is organising Global Alumni Conclave 2012 on January 7th - 8th, 2012 at which its Global Alumni Power shall congregate at DTU Campus. A Pan DCE DTU Portal has also been launched by DTU to provide the vital alumni connect to its alma-mater. The University is also regularly bringing out its DTU Times, which carries the highlights of activities and achievements of faculty and students and the gist of professional activities at the university.

The DTU offers 15 Under Graduate programs with a total intake of 1399 and 17 M.Tech programs with a total intake of 450 in addition to 120 Ph.D Scholars registered for their PhD degrees at the University. The University has added new programs in the areas of New and Emerging Technologies with the primary focus of nurturing synergy between science and engineering. DTU also has a School of Management which offers a MBA program in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Knowledge and Innovation Management.
