No more Engineering Diploma Entrance Test (DET) in Haryana
The Haryana government has confirmed that the Diploma Entrance Test (DET) for admission to 3 years Diploma (engineering) courses would be discontinued from the next session.
Haryana Technical Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma stated that admissions to diploma courses in government-aided polytechnic institutions as well as government institutions would be done on merit of the qualifying examination.

Sharma added that the decision was taken for making life easier for both guardians and students. Furthermore, he added that the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had specified conducting admissions in 2016-17 session through an online system like the kind used by the industrial training institutes.
Earlier, the minister had stated that students would need to fill an online form for admission after passing class 10th examination in order to get engineering diploma in polytechnics.
Khattar had also stated the admission being given through written exam was both costly and expensive.
