IP University bids farewell to VC Prof. KK Aggarwal

New Delhi: The officers, faculty, staff and students of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) gave a heartwarming farewell to the Founder Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. K.K. Aggarwal, whose tenure as the Vice Chancellor is coming to an end on November 30, 2008.

A farewell function was organized at the University today, which was attended by Lt. Governor of Delhi and Chancellor of the University, Mr. Tejendra Khanna, Mr. Rakesh Mehta, Chief Secretary, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and Dr. D.K. Bandyopadhyay, Vice Chancellor Designate, GGSIPU, besides other senior Government officials, employees and students of the University.

Prof. Aggarwal was felicitated on the occasion by Mr. Khanna with a silver plaque, shawl and memento.

Applauding the contributions made by him in the field of education, Mr. Khanna said, "I am sure that with his knowledge and experience, Prof. Aggarwal will continue to serve the academic world".

An eminent IT expert, Prof. Aggarwal joined the University as its Founder Vice Chancellor on December 1, 1998. In his tenure, spanning a decade, GGSIPU emerged as a hub of professional education in the Capital with national and international presence, offering over 70 academic programmes through ten University Schools of Studies and almost 90 affiliated institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Aggarwal remarked, "I am so proud of the University today. The work culture we have been able to create here is remarkable. Here, all officers, faculty and staff members work with utmost passion as it is their own institution".

He also expressed his gratitude to the employees, students and other stakeholders of the University for the affection and support extended to him, during his term in office.

Dr. Bandyopadhyay, the erstwhile Director of Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal will assume his responsibilities as Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU, on December 1, 2008.
