IGNOU flags off workshop on bilingual dictionaries

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU) School of Foreign Languages has organized a five-day workshop of scholars in Indian languages. The initiative is a step forward to create bilingual dictionaries on French to Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Asamese and Santhali.

These scholars, who also teach French, have participated in this workshop which has flagged off from today in this campus. Its inaugural ceremony was telecasted live with the help of video conferencing.

IGNOU's Vice-Chancellor Prof V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai is expected to preside over the inaugural function while French professor Ms. Monique Slodzian will deliver the keynote address.

Ms. Slodzian will also be joined by three veteran academics in foreign language mechanics to develop the lexicography in the languages.

The concluding day, that is Friday, will have a round table discussion towards its end.
