Honours courses to be taught in Hindi at Kirori Mal College
New Delhi: Initiating to breach the language barrier of North Campus colleges, the Kirori Mal College (KMC) of Delhi University (DU) is all set to introduce separate sections for students where all the Honours courses will be taught in Hindi.

The college, in July, will be the only co-educational institution to offer such an opportunity to those coming from the Hindi medium schools.

The new academic session initially will see History (Honours) and Political Science (Honours) adopting the new system.

KMC principal Bhim Sen Singh said that, "After the implementation of the reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) the composition of class rooms is fast changing. We now have more students coming from Hindi medium background for which the need is even stronger than before."

"As most of such students populate History and Political Science seats, we have thereby initiated this process in these two courses. Another plus point is that teaching material in these subjects is also available in plenty," he added.

Another advantage for these students can also be attributed to the fact that it will allow them to include their Hindi marks instead of English in their best-of-four score.

North Campus is usually considered the hub of students thronging from the best English medium schools with best board results.

"There is an option for students to attempt their exams in Hindi then why are they not given the option of being taught in the same language? Others should also follow KMC's example," said DU Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental.
