Full-time Principal at St. Stephen's soon

New Delhi: St. Stephen's College of Delhi University (DU) will have a full-time Principal soon. Sources from the college have confirmed that interviews for the Principal's post will be conducted in August itself.

"Yes, the formal interview with the applicants will be on August 16" said an official.

The former acting principal, Revendra Valson Thampu and Pro Tem M.S. Frank are on the list of candidates for the post of Principal.

The list also includes Shobhana Bhattacharya, who is currently teaching at Jesus and Marry College.

Several other candidates from St. John's College (Agra) and Christ Church College (Kanpur) are also vying for the post.

Sunil Mathew, official spokesman of St. Stephen's said, "There is no injunction by the court against the college proceeding with the appointment. Interview letters have been sent to the candidates. Bhattacharya is the most probable candidate for this post because she has been associated with the college for some time."

According to a college source, "Bhattacharya is the least controversial candidate amongst all applicants and has a tremendous backing among the council members because of her background".
