Kolkata: Carrying posters and placards condemning terrorism, several hundred students and alumni of different schools and colleges of the city on Sunday took out a rally demanding peace and security for people all over India.

The rally, organised by current and former students of various schools and colleges here, walked along various streets of south Kolkata after starting from the Park Circus five-point crossing and terminated the procession at Golpark.

A large number of students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at Salt Lake, whose four alumni were killed in the February 13 German Bakery blast in Pune, also took part.

While Ankik Dhar, Anindi Dhar and Shilpa Goyenka died at the spot, Rajiv Agarwal succumbed to his injury at Pune's Jehangir Hospital on Sunday morning after a week-long fight with death.

"We want a peaceful environment all over the country so that we can move freely without any fear of being killed in a bomb blast or terrorist attack. We want such protest rallies all over India so that the needed measures are taken as early as possible," said a student.

"We want peace, we don't want bloodshed. It is the responsibility of both the government and common man to raise awareness regarding the need of world peace. The blast in Pune has killed our friends. This is highly condemnable," a friend of Shilpa said. IANS
