| Noida schools to be closed only during CG Games' cycling event September 03, 2010 Noida/ New Delhi: The Noida administration has decided to keep its schools to remain open during the Commonwealth Games except during the cycling event, which will be held in Noida itself. The Delhi Police had been quite miffed by the Noida administration's decision to keep its schools open during the Commonwealth Games - 2010, terming their decision as shocking. They had said that even the Gurgaon administration had decided to keep its schools closed during the opening and closing ceremonies of the games. The Noida administration has now decided that it will be keeping schools in the district closed only for two days on October 12 and 13, when the cycling event will take place in Noida. A final decision on the matter is yet to be taken by the Noida administration. However, parents who send their children to schools in Noida have approached Noida schools to ask them for discussing the matter with the concerned authorities. Delhi Police, acknowledging the fact that several students from Noida schools reside in New Delhi, said that even most offices would be closed during the games and hence it was not sensible to keep schools open in Noida. "We want schools in Noida too to remain closed during the entire duration of the Commonwealth Games and we will be pressing the matter with the Noida administration. Also, most schools in Noida will already remain closed between October 7 and November 10 for the Dussehra break, so it should not be any trouble for them to close schools 5 days earlier," said a police officer. According to a Noida district police officer, the circular from the district administration regarding the issue has not yet been released and hence there is still scope to reconsider the matter to keep schools closed during the games. |
