Aligarh: Noted Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Honorary Scientist Shamim Jairajpuri of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) returned to India after a three-week visit to Japan.

Shamim Jairajpuri is a professor at the Department of Zoology of AMU.

Prof. Jairajpuri had visited Japan at the invitation of the Japani Society for Promotion of Science. His visit had been sponsored by the INSA in New Delhi.

During his stay in Tsukuba, Prof. Jairajpuri conducted research on the Japanese plant and soil-inhabiting nematodes. He was also invited to deliver lectures at the Ibaraki University and in Tsukuba Institutes itself. He had also been invited to visit the National Institute of Agriculture as well as the National Institute of Animal Health.

Professor Durdana Jairajpuri, who had accompanied Prof. Jairajpuri on this trip, was invited to deliver a lecture on the status of Indian Women with particular reference to Muslim Women.
