Prof. Irfan Habib in his enlightening lecture spoke about the progress made towards the gender equality in the society in general and the education sector in particular.

Citing examples from AMU, Professor Irfan Habib drew a comparison of the situation of women students at the time when he was a student of the university and the present day university.

Prof. Irfan Habib appreciated the support and encouragement provided by the university administration and University Grants Commission (UGC) in the activities of the Centre of Women's Studies.

Prof. Ainul Haq Khan attacked the orthodoxy and expressed hopes for a better tomorrow. He also talked about the cultural restrains on women, which still prevail in our society.
