Shimla: The Middlesex University of London, with overseas campuses in Dubai and Mauritius, plans to open a new campus in Delhi's satellite town of Noida, said its vice chancellor here on Wednesday.

"The Noida campus would run Bachelor programmes in business management, law, social sciences, information technology and health. The aim is to build capacity in higher education," said Michael Driscoll.

He was in Shimla to hand over a set of 17 rare black-and-white photographs associated with Britons during their stay in the erstwhile Viceregal Lodge which now houses the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS).

The Viceregal Lodge was the official residence of the Viceroys when this town was the summer capital of the British.

Driscoll said curriculum and examination standards at Noida would be the same as in other campuses.

"The degrees would be the same in all the campuses. Even the examinations will be held at the same time in all the campuses," Driscoll said.

"We are awaiting the nod from the central government to set up the campus. If the permission is soon granted, the campus will be set up by 2011," he added.

The photos provided by Middlesex University were displayed in the IIAS for public view.

The IIAS has also received some photographs from the Bowood Estate of Lord Lansdowne, the second Viceroy to occupy the Viceregal Lodge in 1890 after Lord Dufferin. IANS
