Renowned educationist Dr. Joshi passes away

Chandigarh: Renowned linguist and educationist Dr. S.S. Joshi, who met with an accident on November 28, succumbed to his injuries here yesterday at the Fortis Hospital.

Dr Joshi was associated with the Punjabi University, Patiala for a long time. He held several important positions in the varsity; he was head of the Department of Anthropological linguistics and Department of Lexicography.

He also served as Dean Language Faculty, Director Planning, Director Audio Visual Research Centre and Member of Syndics at the varsity.

Punjab Education Minister Dr. Upinderjit Kaur has expressed her deep shock over the sudden demise of Dr Joshi.

In a condolence message she said, "In the death of Dr. Joshi, Punjab had lost a brilliant scholar, an able teacher and a man with distinguished qualities".

Dr. Joshi has been survived by his wife and two sons.
