Helpline rings non-stop as CBSE announces results date
New Delhi: With the Class 12 results of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) all set to be announced on Friday, the Delhi government's counselling helpline has seen a sharp rise in the number of calls from distressed students.

According to Manju Kumar, consultant at the Yuva counselling helpline, the number of calls over the past week has doubled.

"The frequency of calls to our helpline has increased drastically ever since the CBSE has announced the date for the Class 12 results," Kumar told the sources.

"Generally we get about 100 calls, but these days we are getting 150-200 calls every day," she said.

Talking about the nature of calls, Kumar said that students mostly call to ask what should they do if they don't score well in their exams. Others ask if they should re-appear for their exams if they don't do well.

"Students are so anxious and nervous that it baffles us sometimes as to how to deal with them. Some kids even say that they will commit suicide if they fail to cut through a good college or score poor marks," she said.

But it's not just students who are calling.

"We also get calls from parents who want to know how to deal with their nervous kids. They seem confused as to how to balance between asking their kids to be competitive and soothe their frayed nerves at the same time," Kumar said. IANS
