Cabinet clears foreign varsity bill
New Delhi: The Cabinet on Monday cleared a bill that will enable foreign educational institutions set up campuses in India.

"This is a milestone which will enhance choices, increase competition, and benchmark quality," Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal said after a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

"(It's) a larger revolution than even (the one) in the telecom sector," Sibal added.

The bill will now be tabled in the Parliament for its approval. IANS
