US varsity to confer honorary doctorate on VIT Chancellor

Vellore: West Virginia University (WVU), Morgantown, West Virginia State, the United States will confer an honorary doctorate on G. Viswanathan, Chancellor VIT University.

He will be conferred honorary doctorate on May 15 at the convocation ceremony.

Mr. Viswanathan has been selected for the honour for his attainment of international pre-eminence in the field of education, especially for founding the VIT University and making it a leading university in India within 25 years.

The doctorate was being conferred on him for his untiring efforts to provide world-class education at a minimal cost, even free to those who could not afford to pay that meagre amount.
