Coimbatore: A grant of Rs. 5.55 crore has been sanctioned to Avinashilingam University for Women by the Department of Science and Technology, Union Ministry of Science and Technology.

"We have received this grant for a period of three years from the ministry under "Consolidation of University Research for Innovation and Excellence in Women Universities", said Saroja Prabhakaran, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity.

"The fund will be used by the varsity for a project, "Avinashilingam Advanced Centre for Education and Research in Basic Sciences," added Prabhakaran.
