NIT Tiruchi holds seminar, inaugurates new club

Tiruchi: A special seminar on 'Biomedical Engineering' was conducted recently by the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi (NIT-T).

During the seminar, Prof, K.J. Vinoy from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore spoke about the various processes on fabrication of Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) and explained about the applications of MEMS in health care industry and in general.

Prof. Swapna Devi of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research in Chandigarh spoke at length about the practical solution of medical diagnostics via engineering skills. Also, she emphasized upon the power of artificial neural network in establishing models of biomedical students.

NIT-T also celebrated the launch of the Leo Club this week under the guidance of the parent organization, Lions club of Tiruchi Rocktown.

The new club is the latest addition to a large number of clubs in the institute that foster cultural, technical and literary activities.

The club was inaugurated by B. Bhuvaneshwari, District Governor of the Lions Club in the presence of Lions Club - Tiruchi president Kanninga Janakiraman.

Expressing concerns over old age homes and declining care for the aged, Bhuvaneshwari urged all youth to respect and appreciate their parents. Under the leadership of Narendhiraram, students were sworn into the club by R. Murugesan, Vice District Governor of Lions Club.
