Backward class toppers in Tamil Nadu get option of private schools

Krishnagiri: According to a special scheme introduced by the government of Tamil Nadu in the state, students from the Backward Class and Most Backward Class who have attained the top 10 ranks at the district level in their Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination would be allowed to pursue higher education at a private school of their choice.

The complete expenses for the students' Plus-One and Plus-Two would be incurred by the state government.

In an official press release, the Collector said that a maximum amount of Rs. 56,000 at the rate of an annual expenditure of Rs. 28,000 would be sanctioned to each student under the scheme.
