AICTE pay scales for all engineering colleges - Regional Officer
Tiruchi (Tamil Nadu): Regional Officer of AICTE Sandeep Singhal, in response to a recent query posted by the Tiruchi-based Federation of Consumer and Service Organisations (FCSO) under the Right To Information Act, 2005 said that, “All engineering colleges are supposed to pay salaries as per All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) pay scales.”

While answering another query from the same source, on whether at the time of faculty appointment, the colleges are allowed to obtain original certificates from the candidates he denied the move.

The President of FCSO, M. Sekaran, enumerated the injustice faced by the faculties of engineering colleges on these two counts.

Since the candidates are paid on a contract basis, those finding better opportunity elsewhere find it difficult to secure their original certificates from the colleges.

He further said that, “The engineering colleges even demand money to return the documents.”

Mr. Sekaran said that teachers affected by these factors could seek justice under the RTI Act by representing their grievances to the Deputy Director -' Public Grievances, AICTE, Chandralok Buildings, 7th Floor, Opp. Western Court, Janpath Road, New Delhi - 110001.'
