Rajasthan students to monitor Mid-Day Meal Scheme

Jaipur: In a bid to make the Mid-Day Meal Scheme more effective and transparent, the Government of Rajasthan will hand over the programme's supervision to students of Class 6 to 11.

"In order to maintain the quantity and quality of the meal provided in the scheme, students of class 6 to 11 would inspect the mid-day meal," said Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister Kalu Lal Gurjar.

Mid-day meals are provided to students of classes 1 to 8 in about 80,000 Government-aided schools of the state.

12 crore children across the country have been covered under the Mid-day Meal Scheme so far, making it the largest school mid-day meal programme in the world.
