Jodhpur and Udaipur to house IIT and IIM

Jaipur: Jodhpur and Udaipur popularly known as "Blue City" and "City of Lakes" respectively will soon be the house of the noted Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM).

The V. S. Vyas Committee appointed by the State Government of Rajasthan has selected these sites to set up IIT, IIM in the state. The committee has submitted its report to the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot recently.

The State Government is likely to forward the recommendations without any changes to the Centre for its consideration.

The IIT-Rajasthan has already started its operation from the campus of IIT-Kanpur.

The previous state government had suggested Kota an ideal location to set up IIT-Rjasthan, but the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development rejected it in view of a large number of coaching centres operating in the city.
