| Panjab varsity professors retirement age raised December 30, 2009 Chandigarh: The Vice Chancellor of Panjab University recently announced in front of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to increase the retirement age of its professors to 65 years. Receiving a formal communication regarding the same from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) he said, "The move will be executed from next year." An enthusiastic senior professor exclaimed upon the news and said that, "It is great news for all of us. It is a true reward for us as we put our heart into our work. The move will be good for both professors and varsity." "The decision had been deferred for a long period. The professors have been demanding to raise the age bar for quite a long time to reduce the staff crunch. The decision will not only elate them but also help the university as our competent faculty will be serving us for more years now," said a senior official. |
