British Columbia to assist Punjab upgrade its education sector

Chandigarh: The Premier of British Columbia (Canada) Gordon Campbell today offered services to assist the Punjab Government in the area of technical know-how through Experts' and Faculty' exchange programmes.

The domains which are expected to gain maximum out of such an offer include: primary and secondary education, Tele-Medicine, bio-technology, Nanotechnology and information technology.

Taking parts in the deliberations, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab told the delegation that Punjabis shared a special bonding with British Columbia which is not only one of the most prosperous and advanced provinces in Canada but also home to a large number Punjabis who had always contributed immensely towards the economic prosperity of the province

The Chief Minister also informed that the two parties would also work in the areas of employment generation, infrastructure development, education and health services.

Campbell made this offer during the banquet speech at a dinner hosted by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in the honour of visiting British Columbian delegation here last night.

The delegation comprised eminent experts, scientists and teachers from various disciplines, an official spokesman informed today.
