Hyderabad: SMOT, a Chennai-based business school focusing on career-oriented management specialisations, on Thursday launched the first pan-India post-graduate program in management.

As a part of this initiative, SMOT has earmarked 10 seats for every state and is inviting graduates to apply for SMOT Accelerated Post Graduate Program in Business Management course.

SMOT director R. Narasimhan told a news conference that their focus is to reduce post-placement attrition of management graduates in corporate India.

"According to a SMOT study, the major cause of post-placement attrition among management graduates is their lack of vertical knowledge that leads to low performance level at work. This challenge is being addressed by SMOT in a variety of career-specific curriculum methodology, each of which addresses a distinct reason for attrition," he said.

The duration of SMOT post-graduate program in management is 16 months - four terms of four months each.

The school, set up at a cost of Rs.35 million with a first intake of 120 students for the 18-month program, will begin in September this year.

Narasimhan announced plans to launch another campus in Hyderabad at a cost of Rs.100 million that will also offer the 18-month program from this year. (IANS)
