ISB in World's top 20 but still far from AICTE recognition

New Delhi: The Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad is now one of the top 20 business schools in the world as per the Financial Times' annual MBA 2008 rankings. The achievement is worth noting owing to the fact that ISB is the only Indian B-School to have ever found a place in the FT's B-school league table.

Speaking about the institute's success, M Rammohan Rao, Dean, ISB, said, "This is a landmark event for the ISB. It sums up our single-minded goal to be recognised as a global centre of excellence in business education. This ranking is an important milestone in our journey to be an internationally top-ranked research-driven and independent management institution that grooms leaders for the world."

ISB, in a span of just six years, has emerged as one of the finest B-schools in the world. Ever since the institute started with the help of the corporate sector, it cared less to seek approval from the AICTE, the regulatory body in India for technical education.

Today, though the institute is not recognized by the AICTE, yet it has climbed the sky of success. The recent achievement of ISB has also compelled the HRD ministry to review the functioning of both AICTE and the University Grants Commission.

The ISB has been rated for its career progress of graduates, diversity of the MBA experience, international mobility of alumni, ideas generation and research, etc. ISB boosts of academic collaboration with global B-schools including Kellogg School of Management, The Wharton School and the London Business School.
