Mumbai: The announcement of Bhalchandra Besle, State Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Wednesday has given relief to more than 20,000 students who did not get admission in any of the junior colleges through the online process.
These students will now be able to seek admission in the next three days starting today.
The students have to approach their zonal grievance center and select vacant seats in colleges where the cut-offs are lower than their marks.
The admission process opens from August 6 to August 8, 2009 and the session will commence from August 10.
Students who have not been able to secure admission in junior college, can go to the nearest zonal grievance center with a photocopy of their online application form from August 6.
Besle said, "More than 7,000 students who were not allotted any seats at all can approach colleges where the cut-off is lower than their percentage and still have vacancies. The students who have not secured admission in the first, second or third round for various reasons can also approach colleges of their choice on the basis of their merit and availability."
"Those students who want to go for better options can also approach colleges if the colleges have vacant seats," he added.
"Many colleges were unable to utilize seats in the in-house category. Colleges usually have 20% quota for in-house students which can be filled by left out students till 8th August," said Vijaysheela Sardesai, Chair Person, Maharashtra State Board Education and also the Chairman of the Online Committee.
"There are many vacancies in the arts stream; students can simply walk-in into their preferred colleges for admission. Those students who opted for bi-focal subjects in science and commerce but were not able to seek admission due to higher cut-offs can now opt for general science and commerce," Besla said.
The students do not have to pay any charges for application forms in any college.
All the zonal centers will provide students with information on vacant seats in colleges under that zone, and also their cut-off marks without charging the students anything.
