MP Board to conduct supplementary exams

May 15, 2009

Bhopal: The dismal performance of students in HSC Examinations this year coupled with suicidal incidents has forced State Government of Madhya Pradesh to announce supplementary examination in two subjects, instead of one, for the failed students.

The exam will be held on June 30, 2009. More than two lakh students will benefit from the Government's decision.

The examination will be conducted in a full-fledged way.

In the exam held earlier, only 2.37 lakh of the 7.14 lakh students, a dismal 35.33 percent, passed leading to six student suicides.

Faced with sharp criticism, the Government decided to announce some respite for students.

The decision has also been approved by Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

The Government, however, refused to award 10 grace marks, instead of five, to students as demanded by students' organisations.
