Middle-East schools do well in Kerala class 10 exam

Thiruvananthapuram: Students of Middle East schools who appeared in the class 10 Kerala State Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination 2008 have done well. The New Indian Model School Dubai, UAE, had 117 students in the board exam and all of them passed.

The other schools whose students passed the exam include the New Indian Model School, Sharjah 50; Gulf Model School, Dubai, 68; East English School, Umm Al Quwain, 14; the Model School, Abu Dhabi, UAE, 100; Crescent English School, Dubai, 12; M.E.S. Indian School, Doha, Qatar, 27; New Indian Model School, Al Ain, UAE, 41; the New Indian School, Umm Al Quwain, 21; Al Manal Private School, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, 13; and Al Majid English School, Dubai, 35.

State Education Minister M.A. Baby announced the results here on Tuesday. He said the pass percentage in the SSLC examination is an all-time record with 92.09 percent of the students passing it.

Of the 4,51,464 students who took the examination, 4,15,744 students passed.

"You raise concern only when we have a high percentage pass. You should realize that the Central Board of Secondary Examination has a pass percentage higher than what we have. We have initiated steps to see that schools which do not perform well are given extra attention and this has clicked very well," said Baby. IANS
