Pathanamthitta: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan while inaugurating the 19th State meet of the Kerala School Teachers' Association at Adoor on Friday said that, "The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government's aim of extending quality education to all has started yielding better results and positive response from people."

When the LDF assumed power in 2006, the state's education sector was in total disarray, he added.

The government, while aiming to improve the quality of education and extending it to all sections of society feels has initiated extensive reforms in the sector.

He further added that, "Besides removing the ban on appointment, the government has created as many as 2,066 new teacher posts with the active support and interventions of the pro-Left teachers' unions."

Association president K.N. Sukumaran, presided over the function.

The former Finance Minister T. Sivadasa Menon will inaugurate a trade union meet on Sunday. Education Minister M.A. Baby will inaugurate the farewell meet.

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the valedictory meeting at 4 p.m.
