Bangalore schools take extra measures to ease board exam stress
Bangalore: In order to help students in Classes 10 and 12 overcome stress due to academic pressure, schools in Bangalore have come up with several unique ways to bet their students' stress.

In many Bangalore schools, providing snacks to students before special classes has become quite common. Principal of Geethanjali Vidyalaya Nagarathna S. Murthy has said that regular classes at their school get over by 3pm after which, students are given refreshments such as idli, dosa, bread toast or noodles in small amounts so that students retain the required energy to study.

'We make sure that students get the energy they need to study as the special classes can go for as long as 4:30PM. We have been implementing this for 5 years now,' she said.

Similarly, at Florence Public High School, students are provided with snacks before their special classes. Principal Abida Begum of the school said that students eat the food they bring from home in the morning and are provided refreshments such as chocolates, cake or cookies in the evening.

Clarence Public School in the city too provides biscuits to a class of around 75 students almost everyday.

Abida Begum informed that students who live a little far away from the school are also provided the service of being dropped back home after special classes in vans that have been employed specifically for the purpose.

Geethanjali Vidyalaya also provides its students with an hour long class of Carnatic Music every week as it helps them to relax their minds and concentrate better.

Similar measures to ease stress levels in students of classes 10 and 12 in other schools also include yoga classes. Aayeeshah, a yoga teacher in Delhi Public School in Bangalore, said that they conduct special yoga classes twice a week for students who would be appearing for boards.

Students who take the yoga classes are made to practice pranayama, suryanamaskar, kapalabhati and shavasana as they help in focusing, increasing memory power and imagination and to think practically.
