IIT JEE Results 2012 on May 18
New Delhi: The results of the Indian Institutes of Technology - Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) 2012 will be declared on Friday May 18, 2012.

The results will be available on the following website:

More than 5.6 lakh aspirants had appeared for IIT -JEE on April 8 this year for admission to the prestigious IITs at 1,067 centers across the country. There are close to 9,590 seats spread across 15 IITs and competition will be stiff with 53 candidates battling it out for one seat.

The IIT-JEE question papers this year had questions worth 14 marks wrongly put up and the errors were spotted during the evaluation of the optical response sheets. The candidates, however, will be not be penalized for the error and out of the four questions that were wrongly printed, there will be zero marks for two questions, and no negative marking for the remaining two.

Lat year, twelve free marks were awarded for wrong questions, but this year no free marks will be given away. A senior IIT professor said that the policy cannot be uniformed as it depends on the evaluation of errors in the question paper every year.

He further explained that the situation differs every year and the errors take place mainly because the question papers cannot be peer-reviewed to maintain secrecy.
