| Score well in Class 10 for an IIM seat March 03, 2010 Kolkata: Got your Common Admission Test (CAT) score card? Did you score well and now waiting for the most awaited call of your career? If the answer to all these questions is 'yes' then you are in for a new hurdle! Scoring a decent percentile in CAT and an impressive performance in the group discussion and personal interview may not be all as the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have added another criterion for the candidates to reach till that elite seat. Now, your scores in matriculation, higher secondary and graduation would also be of prime importance as they would also be a factor to add up to your overall selection process. For example, the IIM-Calcutta while screening candidates for GD and interview for selection to the postgraduate diploma in computer management course is taking into account work experience and grades in these three examinations. An IIM official said, "75 out of 100 marks are allotted to the CAT score, talking about the remaining 25, 10 each will be kept for class X and XII scores while the remaining 5 will be awarded for work experience." The marks break up is like- candidates scoring 95% in Class X and higher secondary will get the full 10 marks, while those getting over 90% eight marks each. Those getting 85-90% will get six marks, 80-85% four marks. |
