Bhopal: In an effort to bridge the gap between academic theory and industry requirements, a group of 10 Indian Institute of Management (IIM) alumni in Madhya Pradesh has established an institute called the 'Elements Akademia' that aims at providing career guidance to graduates.
Inaugurating the institute here on Monday, Madhya Pradesh Governor, Dr. Balram Jakhar said that institutions providing guidance to students - who face unemployment despite being talented - act as "custodians of future of the country".
The Governor expressed his satisfaction about the growing literacy rate in the country. He, however, said that graduates are facing some basic difficulties in getting jobs.
"The efforts put in by these employment-oriented institutions to bring talented students out of disappointment and provide them with a better future, is praiseworthy," he added.
'Elements Akademia' is a dream institute that aims at providing employment to approximately 10,000 graduates by 2010 by spreading its services to 20 Tier-II cities.
Nishant Saxena, CEO of the institute said, "Elements Akademia will offer six-month comprehensive part-time course that includes Business Communication, Managerial effectiveness, Grooming, IT and other specialized domain knowledge in areas of KPO/BPO, Retail, Insurance and Banking/Accounting."
Expressing his concern over the issue of unemployment in India, Saxena further said that employment opportunities in organised sector were quite less despite India's spectacular GDP growth.
He also pointed out that it was ironical that the top companies wanted to hire people but requisite skills were not taught in our university education system.
Eminent personalities including Union Grants Commission Member Shahsi Rai and Genpact Vice-President and Head (Training) Anupam Kashiv were also present in the inauguration ceremony.
