IIM-Indore celebrates 63 years of independent India
Indore: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) celebrated the 64th Independence Day in an innovative fashion. The Faculty, students and the management staff gathered at the central lawn of the institute early in the morning for the National Anthem and hoisting of the flag.

More than 500 students turned up for the ceremony. Prof. N. Ravichandran did the honors of hoisting the flag and addressed the IIM-Indore community on the auspicious occasion.

Prof. Ravichandran said at the occasion that, "To make a country prosper, one should begin from self. If a person works on his self-improvement, the effect gets cascaded to the society he lives in and eventually to the country as a whole." He urged everyone to begin with their self-development and contribute to the progress of the nation.

He also reminded everyone present during the occasion about the pledge the institute had taken towards environmental development and the progress that it has been making.

Requesting students and faculty to contribute towards this social cause by participating in the sapling plantation drive scheduled later for the day, Prof. Ravichandran informed those present during the ceremony about his plans for making the institution green by planting more than 4000 trees in the next 3 years.

The tree plantation event was coordinated by Pragat-I, the social sensitivity cell at IIM-I. Students and Faculty with their family gathered together near the "sunset point" to plant the tree saplings.

The initiative turned out to be well executed and a huge success as hundreds of tree saplings were planted. In the evening the movie "Chakh De India" was screened at the auditorium and was attended by a large number of people.

Altogether, everybody at the prestigious management institute celebrated the day joyfully with much patriotism and by contributing to the environment by planting trees.
