Ahmedabad: A division bench of Gujarat High Court comprising Chief Justice K. S Radhakrishnan and Justice Akil Kureshi, has directed the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad to pay Rs 46.14 lakh as pending electricity duty to the state government.
The court has also said that the institute could not satisfy the criteria of being an 'educational institute' under the Bombay Electricity Act 1958 due to non-affiliation with Gujarat University.
IIM-A have to pay up electricity duty at non-concessional rates for period from 1993 to 1995 instead of concessional rates.
