Michael Barnes is new vice dean of Jindal Business School

New Delhi: International financial expert Michael Barnes has been appointed the first vice dean of the Jindal Global Business School in Sonepat, Haryana, the institute said in a statement on Saturday.

Barnes, a US national, was the dean of the Global MBA programme at the S.P. Jain Centre of Management, which has campuses in Dubai and Singapore.

He also held the inaugural John F. Fiedler-BorgWarner Endowed Chair of Global Business Studies in the College of Business Administration at Kent State University, Ohio.

A graduate from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Barnes is also an alumnus of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and was awarded a doctorate in management by the Case Western Reserve University, Ohio.

He has over 25 years of experience in the international finance and banking industry. He held various positions with institutions and companies like the World Bank in Washington D.C., Asset management firm Lazard Brothers in London, Gulf International Bank in Bahrain, and the Union Bank of Switzerland in Zurich.

"Michael Barnes is a distinguished leader in the world of business education, having stellar academic qualifications as well as broad range of professional experience in industry and academia," said C. Raj Kumar, vice chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University.

Jindal Global Business School will commence its first academic session in September 2010 with a two year MBA programme. IANS
