New Delhi: The
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally revealed the answer keys of All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), 2010 and 2011. But it did not disclose the question papers, which can help students to perform better in the examination.
On September 30, 2011, the Central Information Commission (CIC) has directed the CBSE to provide the information about students answer sheets after receiving court order.
Earlier, in 2007, the board refused to provide information saying that a citizen cannot seek disclosure of answer sheets under RTI Act. However, on CIC order, IITs have revealed answer keys and question papers of JEE, 2006 to an IITian, who filed a public interest litigation asking for answer keys along with question papers and model answers.
In August 2011, the Supreme Court announced that all examining bodies should allow examinees to have inspection of their answer sheets. Apart from IIT-JEE, State Government's examination bodies have also started disclosing answer keys along with question papers.
CBSE is now disclosing the answer keys, which would not benefit students, appeared in AIEEE. These should be revealed on the day of exam to help students find out how they have done in the exam. Besides, without question papers, answer keys are of no use because sometimes, even wrong questions can be asked in the exam, the IITian who filed Right to Information (RTI) application expressed.
