BITSAT has 13 p.c more takers this year
Pilani: Birla Institute of Technology and Science Aptitude Test (BITSAT) 2010, which is the online entrance test for admission to BITS, Pilani and its other campuses in Goa and Hyderabad, received 139,000 applications this year for 2000 total seats, which is 13% more than that of last year.

"This year, the institute has opened a new BITSAT center at Gwalior, which is in addition to the 20 centers, which already exist in different cities of the country," said the Dean, Admissions, of the Institute, Prof. S. Gurunarayanan.

"We are seeing a trend of increase in the number of applicants every year. We hope this will help us to admit high quality students to our campuses like all these years," he added.

Prof Gurunarayanan further clarified, "There has been a good representation of applications from all parts of the country."

Prof Gurunarayanan also added that the percentage of girls who applied is 32% which is akin to the previous year's figure.

BITSAT test begins on May 10, as per the original announcement. The test will be conducted over a period of four weeks in different centers and the period depends on the number of candidates registered in a particular center.
