AIEEE- Mathematics paper a bit tough

New Delhi: The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) went smoothly on Sunday. Around 6.45 lakh students from the country including 72,000 students from the city appeared for the test.

Students found the paper simpler for both the entrances B Tech and B Arch, leaving mathematics paper a bit tough.

The B Tech paper had 120 questions comprising of 40 questions from each subject Physics, Chemistry and Maths. For each correct answer a student would be given three marks but there was negative marking also; for every incorrectly marked question one third of the total marks of the question would be deducted.

Students selected in this test will be eligible for admission into different engineering institutes including the National Institute of Technology (NITs).

Out of 6.45 lakh students around 45,000 students sat for the second paper for the B Arch course in centrally funded institutes like SPA, IITs and NITs. The B Arch paper had 93 questions and was a 340 mark paper. The students who appeared for the B Arch course found Maths tough but did fairly well in the drawing paper.

Neha Gupta, a student of Suraj Bhan DAV Public School, Vasant Vihar, appeared for both the exams B Tech and B Arch said, "I found the maths paper a bit difficult and to avoid negative marking I attempted only those questions which I was sure off. The drawing portions and the general knowledge part in the B arch paper were easy and scoring".

According to experts the paper was easy and meant for average students. Some of the questions were from the NCERT Books which let the students to be a bit relaxed.
