New Delhi: With the Supreme Court's intervention, over 200 government schools in the capital will soon get principals.
Decks for the appointment for principals have been cleared after three years of procedural wrangling between the Delhi government and the
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The UPSC to the apex authority said that it would be over with the recruitments by this year's end. The Commission told the court that it would fill the 58 vacant posts of principals under Direct Recruitment Quota (DRQ) and 145 under Recruitment by Promotion Quota (RPQ).
The Commission in an affidavit filed in the court blamed the Delhi government for unreasonable interruption in the recruitment of principals, vice-principals and over 5,500 teachers alleging that it did not disseminate all the required information to the commission.
According to the UPSC, the recruitments of 58 principals under the DRQ for 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 was still in process after the final nod of the government, which sent the final proposal on February 5, 2010.
The commission reportedly found many deficiencies in the proposal received from the Delhi government in October 2009 for the posts of 145 principals under the RPQ.
But now, after the government's reply to the Commission on February 18, the proposal was being examined on the priority basis.
The commission claimed that it will be over with the recruitments within 6-9 months if it will receive the proposal from the government for the same complete in all respects.
