Panel confirms better situation in Osmania to Supreme Court
New Delhi: According to the status report submitted before the Supreme Court by a three member committee on Friday, the situation in the Osmania University campus which was allegedly the hot bed of the Telangana separatist movement, has improved considerably.

The Supreme Court formed the panel, comprising Andhra Pradesh State Secretary, Vice Chancellor of the university and Hyderabad Police Commissioner, in February, to monitor the law and order situation in the varsity campus and thus evaluate the requirement for further deployment of security forces on the premises.

A senior advocate and state counsel, Harish Salve, submitted his report before the Bench comprising Justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly stating that, "The situation is better than the past."

The Bench is also hearing the appeal filed by the Andhra Pradesh government against an order of the Division Bench of the HC upholding a single judge order directing paramilitary forces to vacate the university campus.
