Nursery admissions, a topsy-turvy scenario
New Delhi: While nursery admissions seems an unending scramble for parents, new developments bring nightmares to them when they see no firm ground, upon which their ward could be a bonafide student of their coveted school.

With the new directive from the Directorate of Education (DoE) to schools to withdraw the parent's educational qualification criteria while awarding points to a child, many parents felt disappointed.

The schools revised its list on February 6, 2010, and now gives more points to siblings.

"I am highly disappointed with the new diktat of the DoE. We have lost a major share of points which kept my ward way above from the rest of the lot. Adding to our misery was another criteria, since our ward is our first child we lost points in the sibling criteria as well. I scored 20 marks in the age criteria, which now has been reduced to 10. My rank was sixth earlier, and now I don’t even appear on the list!" said an aggrieved parent.

Sumit Vohra, the founder of a website which updates and guide parents about the new developments in the admission process said, "Parents who dwelt upon their educational qualifications for the admission of their wards felt deceived as the announcement from the DoE came very late."
