New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Vice Chancellor, Professor V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed classroom block within the campus announced that IGNOU would soon establish 'Model Study Centres' within the campus.

Congratulating the IGNOU construction and maintenance division, Professor Pillai announced that IGNOU will soon have a full-fledged administrative block.

The VC said, "Higher education has received 400 additional allocation in all universities within the country in the last 4 years. Therefore, there is a need to pass on the benefits to the students. Several initiatives are being started to improve the quality of learning, including making world-class study material accessible to the IGNOU students. There is a need to have face-to-face interaction with them. Even though IGNOU teachers do not meet all students face-to-face, the academic counsellors directly interact with all the enrolled 2.8 million learners."

The VC also announced that 20-22 more classrooms will be coming up soon in the campus. The newly constructed classroom block has 20 rooms and the classes are expected to start soon. The classroom block will benefit the regular students enrolled in 21 full-time programmes of the university.
