Jamia becomes Sports Authority's extension centre
New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia has been adopted as an extension centre by the Sports Authority of India, an official said on Monday.

"The varsity will be used as a Special Training Centre and Special Area Games Schemes for junior level trainees in sports like hockey, athletics, volleyball and football," Jamia media coordinator Simi Malhotra said.

The trials will be held September 13 and 14 for students between the age group of 14 to 19.

Schools and colleges actively involved in sports, with adequate infrastructure, and a history of producing national and international sports persons, are eligible under this scheme. IANS
