Jamia Millia gets a dental college
New Delhi: The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is all set to start a new dental college from this academic session.

With an annual intake of 50 students, classes for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is likely to begin from mid August. Students will be offered admission to the BDS on the basis of written test followed by an interview. The entrance test is likely to be conducted in mid July.

Admission notification for the BDS will soon be announced by the varsity.

The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry this past week issued a letter of intent for the establishment of a new dental college in the name of Faculty of Dentistry on the Jamia campus.

It will be the ninth faculty at Jamia. It has 29 faculty members, along with the requisite number of paramedic, technical and sanitary staff as required by the Dental Council.

"Work on the dental college, designing its building and course content, as well as the process of taking permissions from the various councils and authorities has been on in full swing over the past few years. A dental OPD has already been functional at the University's Ansari Health Centre for some time," added Rakhshanda Jalil.
