IGNOU gets a new and improved website
New Delhi: A new and improved website of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), with easy access to regional centres, was inaugurated here on Thursday.

The inauguration was done by Vice Chancellor M. Aslam after unfurling the tricolour at the campus on Republic Day.

The website has a better look, easier accessibility and more user-friendly.

"The sites have a unified structure and common format unlike earlier when the regional centre websites were having different formats," said Aslam.

The vice chancellor further said that all regional centres of IGNOU would soon have their own buildings.

"The university is planning to a 24-hour mini hospital with facilities like ENT, dental and cardiac treatment. We will soon have regular medical check-up of all employees to keep them healthy," said Aslam.

IGNOU has a presence in 43 countries. The Universities of Berkley and Maryland in the US have shown interest in faculty exchange with IGNOU.

IGNOU, which started with two courses and 4,000 students in 1985, has evolved into one of the world's largest varsities by offering about 450 programmes. It now has over three million students on its rolls. IANS
