New Delhi: Now the word 'recession' does not seem to bother the recruiter as the hiring process returns back to normal with the Delhi University's (DU) central placement drive beginning from January 25, 2010.

According to the Central Placement Cell (CPC) officials, "The companies are swooping in the campus especially for the differently abled students due to which we have asked the principals of the colleges to pile up their performance records."

CPC chairperson Seema M Parihar said, "In order to facilitate the recruitment process in the campus, the companies have asked us to collate the details of all such students who are differently abled. Referring to the last year records, only two such recruitments were made."

"We want to start the process as soon as possible, for which we need the details of the differently abled students from the colleges. As a part of their corporate social responsibility, we have been talking to the companies regarding recruitment of these students and we expect a good response," she added.

The CPC started with its recruitment activity in 2008 for the first time to recruit final year undergraduates from different colleges which was extended to the post graduates in the last year.

With companies willing to recruit more students this time, the CPC has rooted itself strong in the placement drive of DU.

"A South African company has declared a package of Rs.14-16 lakhs, which is the highest so far, to recruit students from MA Economics," disclosed Parihar.

The first placement session led to forty-four recruitments by five companies in December last year.

"The second session will see eight new companies entering the campus where some of them are willing to recruit 50-100 students together," said Parihar.
