New Delhi: With no solution in sight as of now, the Delhi Technological University (DTU) has resolved to postpone its mid-semester examinations after the mass boycott by its students.
The examination, which was held on Tuesday, had a thin attendance of only 80 students out of 2,900, which forced the authorities to re-schedule the examinations.
Talks between student representatives and Principal Secretary P.K. Tripathi and Secretary of Higher Education Anand Prakash did not yield any resolution on Tuesday.
It now has been almost two weeks that the students have been agitating against the conversion of the brand Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) to that of a state university namely Delhi Technological University (DTU).
Their demands also include dismissal of the Vice Chancellor P.B. Sharma.
When nearly 100 students protested at the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said that, "The decision once taken will not be revoked. DTU has already been created, students by boycotting the exams are only ruining their career. Their demands in any case are still not clear. Talks have begun recently and we are ready to address whichever demands are justified." |
